Some
Recent Experiences of Elevative Networks and It's Staff
NT 4.0 to Windows 2003
Migration
Maryland Mechanical Engineering Contracting
Firm
Elevative Networks upgraded a Windows NT 4.0 domain
structure to Windows 2003 with Active Directory and Exchange 2003.
The forty-five user office had been running a Windows NT Primary
Domain Controller and Exchange 5.5 email server with a few member
Windows 2000 servers. We preformed an in place upgrade of their
NT PDC to Windows 2003 and purchased a new server running Exchange
2003 to replace their Exchange 5.5 server, then migrating users
and email to the new server. In addition, corporate wide anit-virus
was updated and enterprise anti-spam was installed. RIM Blackberries
had been issued to some staff members however many had abandoned
their use due to a poor originial implementation. Elevative Networks
recommended the purchase of the Blackberry Enterprise Server, which
was installed with excellent results and great client satisfaction.
Complete Windows 2003
Enterprise Network From Scratch
Washington, DC Law Firm
Elevative staff was instrumental in building a
complete Windows 2003 Enterprise network from scratch for a 75-user
DC law firm in one week upon their separation from their parent
firm. The project included the complete integration of 50 new desktops,
25 new laptops and old Novell/GroupWise data into the new Active
Directory/Exchange 2003 system. Their office space was cabled, redundant
Internet access was acquired, and a VoIP vendor was found to install
a complete 3com NBX phone system while Elevative staff helped focus
on the data network.
Strategic IT Audit
and Novell Migration
Maryland Non-Profit Association
Elevative staff performed a strategic audit for
a 50-user health association, including hardware, software, security,
and licensing issues. The association subsequently asked for a complete
overhaul of their legacy systems, with a migration from Novell 3.12
to Windows 2003 in the server room and a Windows XP/Office 2003
upgrade across all of their client machines. We also took over a
long-overdue programming project, finalizing a system for their
constituents to complete aid requests online. We provide ongoing
support for their systems, giving guidance and direction to a salaried
helpdesk staffer while providing strategic support at a senior level
for ongoing upgrades and development.
IT Downsizing and Restructuring
Virginia Communications Firm
Our staff created a long-term maintenance and support
plan for a 25-user wireless communications firm, which downsized
from 125 employees including all IT personnel. After taking inventory
of their assets and interviewing the exiting staff, we retuned their
systems for lowered levels of support. This included the migration
of applications to more reliable hardware, including a significant
revenue-generating Microsoft SQL web application from NT4 / MS SQL
5.5 to Windows 2000 / MS SQL 2000 that also pulled data from an
AS/400 system. Simplified internal applications platform to suit
their new staffing level without sacrificing service levels for
their complex needs. Migrated their Groupwise and Novell systems
to Windows 2003 and Exchange. We continue to provide ongoing support
for the firm on a time-and-materials basis, with regular bimonthly
security maintenance for their server systems.
IT Upgrades and Service
Improvements
Multi-office DC Metro Architecture
Firm
Upgraded backroom systems for a 55-user architectural
firm, including an Exchange 2000 deployment and the implementation
of VPN services. Converted legacy antivirus system to Symantec Enterprise
including the email and filtering components. Installed NAS device
to serve as archival storage for defunct projects while increasing
space for AutoCAD and Viz files. Provided executive and remote architectural
staff with secure remote access to key data from several long-term
offsite construction locations, shortening lead times for change
orders and design revisions.
